| The enchanted dimension of Faery has existed side by side with our human one for thousands of years. It is said that there was once a time when the Human and Faery worlds were one. But legend tells that our human ancestors became trapped in the physical world. They became less and less aware of what was hidden just beyond their physical sight, and the vision of the Faery became lost to them.
As a Wiccan, the idea of calling the elementals into our circle is a carryover from the days when the faeries were asked to participate in our magick. But elemental faeries are not merely the four alchemical elements of earth, air, fire, and water. We do them and ourselves a great injustice when we call them to just witness the casting of our circles.
These faeries have personality and individuality, they are fully sentient beings with feelings and rights and should be addressed accordingly the next time we call them to our circle, to give them the correct recognition will greatly enhance your experience. Elemental faeries can, and often will, aid human work, ritual, and magick if approached properly.
We have to first work to win their trust. Plant a Faery garden as a refuge for the little folk. Leave a corner of your garden wild and uncultivated, just plant wildflower seeds there, a small patch is suffice to make a welcoming place for them, do this at the base of a tree, or somewhere you can also place a ‘Faery door’.
Leave out gifts for them, shiny stones and bits of jewellery, ground ginger is a particular favourite, leave anything that glitters such as beads or crystals, an absolute must is clean water in a receptacle that is about 1” deep, change this daily because birds also share the faery home at times. Never toss out Faery offerings like you would food for wild animals. They consider this very disrespectful. Make up a tiny basket of your offerings and leave them on your step, in your garden, or under a tree, some favourite Faery crystals are tiger's eye, peridot, jade, lava, fluorite, and especially emerald. Don't expect these gifts to disappear, as faeries are able to extract the spiritual essence of our physical gifts to them please be sure to leave them with deep respect and love. It is a good idea to change the crystals every so often in order to keep the Faery folk hanging around.
Whatever you do to bring life to your garden will bring faeries as well. First of all, plant plants that attract bees and butterflies, This will also attract the Fae, put up bird feeders, bird baths, bird houses, small fountains, ponds, Faery statues, or waterfalls all will welcome our elementals to our garden.
I had thought today that man is once again the reason that Fae seem to have become very distant, they have had years of mistreatment and misunderstanding by humans, who have desecrated the Fae’s work by felling living breathing Trees and plant life to make way for huge expanses of rail or roadways with little thought to what life they are destroying.
I is no wonder that Fae are not spoken about often by children now, have computers and technology robbed the perfect and pure mind a child has that enables them to believe in Faeries, I guess the only Faery important to a lot of children is the Tooth Faery, it is very sad indeed, Mums please encourage your children to help make a Faery place in your gardens and keep the spirit of the Fae alive. Blessed Be
Believe in the fairies That make dreams come true, Believe in the wonder The stars and the moon,
Believe in the magic From the fairies above, They dance on the flowers And sing the songs of love,
And if you just believe, And always stay true, The fairies will be there To watch over you! author unknown
